When we finished design school, we (co-founders Eitam Tubul and Shira Glick) traveled all around Israel for a couple of months and ended our trip here in Jerusalem. Over the course of the trip, we realized that most young adults in Israel were gravitating toward Tel-Aviv. We preferred to create an alternative by setting up a studio specifically in Jerusalem that would bring a new and young message to the city. Our studio is very connected to Jerusalem. Like the city, the studio is a collection of contrasts—east and west, messy and orderly, disciplined and free-spirited, quiet and noisy.
We like to dream and dare with our clients, open their minds to new ways of thinking. We always “interfere,” even in areas of the project that don’t relate directly to design, in order to offer ideas that enrich the client’s dream. Many of our clients like to drop by and visit us in the studio just to chat and have coffee—our door is always open. Our solutions come from a very personal and emotional place, and most of the time we find ourselves playing the role of psychologist, marketing consultant, and comedian before we even begin designing.
As designers we have the power to influence our surroundings every day. A dream project would be one that would allow us to use this ability in a positive way and encourage more conscientious design. Any project in which design is a tool that contributes in a concrete way to our surroundings is a dream. We’re happy that sometimes we have that opportunity.
